The Smart Way to Go Green

ARI is working with SmartWay Transport® Partnership in a joint effort to boost energy efficiency and lessen the impact of greenhouse gases and particulate emissions on the global environment.

SmartWay is a voluntary collaboration between the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the freight industry. Launched in 2004, it brings together major freight shippers, trucking companies, railroads, and logistics companies to pursue efficiencies that help clean up the environment and produce cost savings for its approximately 600 Partners.

ARI is the first fleet management company to become a SmartWay Affiliate. Through EnviroFleet®, the green program ARI created in 2001, we work with customers to put planet-friendly fleets on the road, contributing to SmartWay's goal of lowering emissions by 33 to 66 million metric tons of carbon dioxide and up to 200,000 tons of nitrogen oxide per year by 2012.

Our EnviroFleet program and Green Team are taking the lead in helping a growing number of clients who are now required to meet a variety of corporate green mandates. ARI performs case-specific greenhouse gas analyses and makes recommendations covering NOx and particulate matter for specialized truck fleets. We help clients implement green fleet initiatives that include vehicle selection, drive-train configuration, alternative up-fit and fuel options.

We also undertake technology research, development and deployment. And as a strategic partner for customers, we sponsor conferences and seminars to educate fleet managers on all aspects of going green—the smart way.
